Overview

The rear sprocket for Triumph Bonneville Speed Twin transfers drive from the chain to the wheel. For the rear sprocket on Bonneville Speed Twin, select against the carrier and rear wheel currently fitted.

What does an Ultralumin 7000 aluminum sprocket offer?

The sprocket body is CNC-machined from Ultralumin 7000 aluminum alloy. Aluminum allows the center section to be shaped and has a lower mass than steel for the same material volume. The anodized surface adds color and helps resist corrosion. When selecting a new sprocket, check the tooth count and sprocket carrier. To compare it with a steel sprocket, use two sprockets of the same dimensions to establish the actual weight difference.

Selecting tooth count and chain size

A different tooth count can change the bike's response. With the front sprocket unchanged, fewer rear teeth produce a lower final drive ratio. To retain familiar riding characteristics, keep the existing rear tooth count. Available tooth-count options are 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44.

Checking the rear wheel assembly

To retain familiar riding characteristics, record the current tooth counts of both sprockets. If the rear wheel has been changed, use dimensions from the carrier currently fitted rather than an image of a sprocket on a bike with stock wheels. Check that the chain runs centrally on the tooth ring.
