Overview

Front Sprocket for Kawasaki Vulcan S mounts on the gearbox output shaft to drive the chain and transfer power to the rear wheel. Vulcan S has separate rear-wheel and front-sprocket configurations in the catalog.

What is Chromoly 440 steel used for?

The front sprocket uses CNC-machined, heat-treated Chromoly 440 steel. The front sprocket teeth remain in repeated contact with the chain while riding. Steel is used here to prioritize load and wear resistance. If the old teeth are pointed or unevenly worn, fit a front sprocket with the same tooth count to retain familiar riding characteristics. Also inspect chain and rear sprocket wear so all three components work together consistently.

Selecting tooth count for your riding needs

Retaining the front tooth count is a straightforward way to replace a worn part without changing the gearing. Reducing the front tooth count with the rear sprocket unchanged increases the ratio. Check sprocket-cover clearance and chain slack as well. This model is available with 15 teeth.

Checks before installation

When replacing the front sprocket, confirm the shaft and chain rather than relying on the Vulcan S rear tooth count. If the drivetrain has been modified, measure the sprocket thickness at the chain-running area and check the chainline to the rear sprocket. Use the currently fitted parts as the reference.
