Overview

Front Sprocket for KTM Duke 250 mounts on the gearbox output shaft to drive the chain and transfer power to the rear wheel. Identify the front sprocket for Duke 250 by its output-shaft interface and retaining arrangement.

What is Chromoly 440 steel used for?

The front sprocket uses CNC-machined, heat-treated Chromoly 440 steel. The front sprocket teeth remain in repeated contact with the chain while riding. Steel is used here to prioritize load and wear resistance. If the old teeth are pointed or unevenly worn, fit a front sprocket with the same tooth count to retain familiar riding characteristics. Also inspect chain and rear sprocket wear so all three components work together consistently.

Selecting tooth count for your riding needs

If you are happy with how the bike rides and are replacing only a worn front sprocket, retain its tooth count to preserve the gearing. To change the bike's response, a larger front sprocket reduces the final drive ratio when the rear sprocket remains unchanged. Available tooth-count options are 14 and 15.

Checks before installation

Retain the correct chain size when replacing an old front sprocket, even if changing tooth count. If the current front sprocket has a raised section or offset, measure both faces rather than only counting teeth. Offset determines whether the chain aligns with the rear sprocket.
