Front Sprocket for Kawasaki ZX-9R (1994-2003)
MREV-P-000053Front sprocket for Kawasaki ZX9R (1994-2003): Heat-treated Chromoly 440 steel for the sprocket that drives the chain. Select a tooth count, spline profile and chain size that match the bike. When the existing front sprocket teeth are worn, inspect the chain and rear sprocket too.
The front sprocket for Kawasaki ZX9R (1994-2003) mounts on the gearbox output shaft to drive the chain and transfer power to the rear wheel. ZX9R 1994–2003 covers several production years.
What is Chromoly 440 steel used for?
The front sprocket uses CNC-machined, heat-treated Chromoly 440 steel. The front sprocket teeth remain in repeated contact with the chain while riding. Steel is used here to prioritize load and wear resistance. If the old teeth are pointed or unevenly worn, fit a front sprocket with the same tooth count to retain familiar riding characteristics. Also inspect chain and rear sprocket wear so all three components work together consistently.
Selecting tooth count for your riding needs
If you are happy with how the bike rides and are replacing only a worn front sprocket, retain its tooth count to preserve the gearing. To change the bike's response, a larger front sprocket reduces the final drive ratio when the rear sprocket remains unchanged. Available tooth-count options are 16 and 17.
Checks before installation
The sprocket must match the actual shaft splines, even if it has the same tooth count as the old one. Check whether the front sprocket is retained by a nut or circlip and compare its shaft seating face before considering decorative hole patterns.

Recorded gearing options
Only recorded pitch, position and tooth options are shown. Final-drive changes must be evaluated against the complete front/rear setup; tooth count alone is not treated as a performance claim.
