Overview

Front Sprocket for KTM Super Duke 990 (2012-2013) mounts on the gearbox output shaft to drive the chain and transfer power to the rear wheel. This front sprocket is for Super Duke 990 from 2012–2013. For bikes produced in 2012, compare the sprocket currently fitted.

What is Chromoly 440 steel used for?

The front sprocket uses CNC-machined, heat-treated Chromoly 440 steel. The front sprocket teeth remain in repeated contact with the chain while riding. Steel is used here to prioritize load and wear resistance. If the old teeth are pointed or unevenly worn, fit a front sprocket with the same tooth count to retain familiar riding characteristics. Also inspect chain and rear sprocket wear so all three components work together consistently.

Selecting tooth count for your riding needs

If you are happy with how the bike rides and are replacing only a worn front sprocket, retain its tooth count to preserve the gearing. To change the bike's response, a larger front sprocket reduces the final drive ratio when the rear sprocket remains unchanged. This model is available with 16 teeth.

Checks before installation

The 2005–2012 range has its own front sprocket part number and overlapping model years. A shaft photo helps resolve confusion. If the bike is no longer stock, measure both the spline root diameter and the height of the old sprocket's raised section. A straight-on photo may not show these dimensions clearly.
